ANSWER: Dec 8 2009 Dear John, I'm really sorry to have overlooked your email - it came in the middle of a half dozen tests of our WebForm that our webmaster was running. There is a Peel Away product that is specifically designed for removing lead paint from metal - it's called Peel Away number 6. [UPDATE AS AT FEBRUARY 2013: Peel Away number 6 is no longer sold, but Smart Strip by Peel Away - Advanced Paint Remover, manufactured by Dumond Chemicals in the USA, removes old lead paints from any interior or exterior surface (wood, brick, stone, concrete, plaster, metal, plastic, glass, fiberglass, etc.) and Peel Away 8, from Haymes Paints - www.haymespaint.com.au - or Bldcare - www.peelaway.com.au – in Australia, is “Suitable for use on surfaces such as: Virtually all exterior and internal surfaces – wood, brick, metal, concrete, painted aluminium, stone, plaster, painted fibreglass etc.“ See http://www.peelaway.com.au/image/data/PEEL%20AWAY%20EIGHT%20DATA%20SHEET.pdf ] Other than that, you could follow the general advice at Lead paint & ceiling dust management - how to do it lead-safely Cheers Yours Sincerely Elizabeth O'Brien |
