QUESTION: How Can I get free tackle samples from your company? 16/06/09   Canada

How can I get free tackle samples from your company? I love fishing and camping. I would like to try different stuff and take my grandchildren fishing. I'm going green for the environment so that young people Can enjoy the wild life Like I have.

ANSWER: Jun 17 2009

Hi Robert,

You've written to a charity that runs an information and referral service. We are not a company. We do not make non-lead sinkers - we only disseminate information about them. We don't have any samples to give away. Sorry about that. You could try writing to some of the actual non-lead tackle suppliers listed on the internet. The Canadian Wildlife Service of Environment Canada used to have a list of these on their website at http://www.ec.gc.ca/pollution/default.asp?lang=En&n=1BB199B9-1?WT.mc_id=pollution but perhaps the list got too long as, now, they just have the following statement: Non-toxic alternatives Increasingly, mainstream retailers are making non-toxic alternatives to lead fishing sinkers and jigs available to anglers. These alternatives are now available in many stores and on the Internet.

I recommend that you email the Canadian Wildlife Service and ask them for their list and to ask them to put it back on their website.

That's what I'll be doing now that I've found it's been taken down.

All the best with your green fishing.

Yours Sincerely

Elizabeth O'Brien
