QUESTION: Do you know anyone else who has suffered lead poisoning as a result of using Grecian Formula hair colour restorer? 02/04/09 Delaware, USA - United States of America I suffered from lead poisoning as a result of using Grecian Formula for 10 years. It was cleared with chelation, but it took a long time and cost a small fortune. Are you aware of others in a similar circumstance? |

ANSWER: Apr 2 2009 Dear Leonard, this is a very important question that you ask but unfortunately you are the only person who has ever contacted me with use of a hair colour restorer as the cause of lead poisoning. I suspect that this is more to do with the fact that people don't normally get a blood lead test (for any reason) and especially they don't get a blood lead test done when they are using a legally supplied product. People tend to assume that if a product is on sale, then it must be safe. Thus the lack of data on blood lead levels of users of hair colour restorers in particular. Are you planning to sue the manufacturers of Grecian Formula or the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) or CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) for allowing the product to be sold? Do you have a good lawyer with experience in class actions? I look forward to hearing from you again. I have long been concerned that lead acetate is permitted in hair colour restorers. All the best Yours Sincerely Elizabeth O'Brien |
