QUESTION: Lead poisoning from lead slug lodged in head, 12 Dec 2005, New South Wales Australia

My partner was shot 10 years ago and we have recently found out the slug is still in his head and is made of lead. our local GP seems to think it is fine but I am very unsure is there any risk of lead poisoning?
