QUESTION: What type of paint is used on Singer Treadle sewing machines?
06 May 2004, Victoria Australia
Do you have any information about concerning what type of paint would have been used on the Singer Treadle sewing machines, fabricated in Scotland in approx. 1915? I have been restoring a machine and have done a lead test which came up negative but am still wanting further information on the paint finish (black) that may have been used. Thank you for your help. |

Dear Gabrielle, I put your question the day it arrived to the Lead Network, an e-group of over 600 lead poisoning prevention professionals and advocates and no information came back on your question (though usually one or two people comment on even the least well-known lead sources). I think it's a safe bet therefore, to say, especially since your lead test was negative, that the black coating on Singer Treadle sewing machines is not leaded. As to what it is, can you possibly ask Singer?
Yours Sincerely |
