2025, the winner of the People’s Choice cash prize of $200 was determined to be Paula Jacobe, Age: 10,
from the Philippines.

Title: Palm Island
Lead-Safety Message: Remote First Nations communities like Palm Island community where blood
lead testing has never been done despite all the usual lead hazards being present, would benefit
greatly by a portable XRF bone lead testing program.

Title: Palm Islands Sunrise
Lead-Safety Message: Indigenous Australians such as those living on Palm Island, are more likely
to have higher blood lead levels than non-Indigenous Australians. Governments should make efforts
to test blood lead levels in order to Close the Gap for a brighter tomorrow.
