QUESTION: Australian plants and their tolerance/uptake of heavy metals including Pb. 19 Apr 2006, New South Wales Australia

Hi Elizabeth,
You may or may not remember me. I came to you approx 2 years ago seeking info on heavy metals in vegetables. You provided me with heaps of info and got me in contact with Helen from Port Kembla where I consequently conducted part of my study. I have since published my study and will forward you a PDF (or hard copy) when I'm next in my office. I'm now embarking on my PhD looking at Australian plants and their tolerance/uptake of heavy metals including Pb. I saw that you recently had a post on a website regarding Pb tolerant Australian species and part of my research has focussed on this. When I have my work published I will be sure to send you a copy. I have had some pretty interesting results thus far! I am supervised by Naveen Bhatis (from ANSTO) who also appeared on that site and Balwant Singh at Sydney University. Our group has a lot to do with heavy metals in soils/plants. Any how I will keep in touch and in the future if you have any queries I would be more than willing to help in any way I can.
Kind Regards
Anthony
ANSWER: 19 Apr 2006

Dear Anthony,
it's wonderful to hear from you and of course I'd love to receive your PDF and anything else you write. If you ever manage to put together a list of lead-tolerant Australian native plants then please send it in.
Regards
Yours Sincerely
Elizabeth O'Brien
