QUESTION: Ford Explorer Exhaust Fumes Inside Vehicle, 25 Feb 2003, Alabama United States of America

Exhaust fumes inside our 2002 Ford Explorer are getting worse. Where can we go for help with this problem? Ford doesn't seem to be concerned, said it was safe and wouldn't hurt anyone!! It is making me physically ill!

What can I do? We need help!!

Thanks, Janette Lockhart

Ford has admitted there is a problem with these vehicles but have not done much about it.

ANSWER: 25 Feb 2003

Dear Janette,

you can file a complaint at www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/ - the Office of Defects Investigation of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) which has jurisdiction over automobiles in the USA.

Yours Sincerely
Elizabeth O'Brien
