The use of personal protective equipment and ceiling dust removal

    The use of personal protective equipment including:  

  • Respirators complying with Australian Standard AS 1716 Respiratory Protective Devices may be selected for the process.

  • Respirators should be selected and maintained in accordance with Australian Standard AS 1715 Selection, use and maintenance of respiratory protective devices. A maintenance program as outlined in AS 1715 should be set up for the non-disposable respiratory protection provided. In accordance with the Standard the face piece for the supplied air respirator should be washed and disinfected after each use, especially as the work is rotated amongst staff.

  • Disposable coveralls (the type suitable for use in agricultural spraying & asbestos removal works and changed at regular interval)

  • Disposable gloves.

  • When full face pieces are not worn, eye protection should be selected and used in accordance with Australian Standard AS 1336 Recommended practices for eye protection in the industrial environment and conform with the Australian Standard AS 1337 Eye protectors for industrial application.
